Microsoft’s Xbox app launched on LG Smart TVs in over 25 countries, enabling gamers to play without a console.
Users locate the app in the LG Gaming Portal or LG Apps on webOS version 24 or later. After signing in with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate account, they stream titles on television screens. A controller completes setup.
The platform offers access to more than 300 games, from indie releases to franchises from Activision, Bethesda, Blizzard, Mojang and Xbox Game Studios. Subscribers stream Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Avowed and South of Midnight. They also stream titles they own, such as NBA 2K25 and Hogwarts Legacy.
The service supports 4K upscaling and streaming via Microsoft’s streaming service. LG will add support for the StanbyME smart screen in the coming months.
The launch removes the need for a console in the home entertainment setup. With Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on LG webOS, users move from streaming video to gaming on the same device.
